GMR Performance-Shipping Instructions

HEAD PACKING INSTRUCTIONS

At GMR PERFORMANCE we have seen just about every type of head damage that you can think of. Based on that we have come up with a way to insure that when you ship your baby’s heads to us that they will arrive safe and sound. So let’s get started:

  1. You will need two small plastic bags. Grocery bags work great, Brake clean, two boxes slightly larger than the head, one box larger enough to fit the two smaller boxes into and newspaper and popcorn.
  2. Ok You need to remove any bolts, or sensors that are in the head (exhaust studs are ok to leave in) Clean the head with the brake clean, concentrate on the valve spring are and oil breather area. Once dry, then bag the heads making sure that if there is no oil left in head as it will not leak out of the box. If it leaks UPS has a bad habit of stopping the package and waiting to see what is in there, this can be approximately a week before they will release the package, after they re-box it and charge you for the service.
  3. Place the head in one of the two small boxes and then pack balled up newspaper tightly around head, and on top of head. You want to crush the paper down when you close the top and tape shut.
  4. Now you need to make sure the heads are surrounded by balled up paper in the large box. (You can use foam peanuts here only do not use in head box) put a small layer down on bottom set heads in box pack paper around, and on top again crushing the packing material down when you close box.
  5. If you use a box where you are stacking the heads you must have balled paper or peanuts and a cardboard separator between the two heads with packing material on both side of the separator. If not you stand a chance of the valve springs ripping a hole through the box and then being banged against the top head every time they drop the box.
  6. Before you tape it up make sure you have a copy of the invoice from GMR in a envelope so I know who has sent me a set of heads, also INCLUDE a return-shipping label as that will speed up the process.
  7. This may seem like a lot to go through but if you follow the instructions above the heads will then arrive in the same shape as you sent them.  Here at GMR we want the process to go as quickly as it can without any problems, damaged heads will slow the process down.
  8. If you have any questions on this feel free to call.
